Welcome Habitat for Humanity’s Newest Silt Partner Family:
Jennifer Hess is a proud single mother of three children: McKala 15, Nicole 14 and Jacob 8.
She works for the City of Glenwood’s Electric Department as a Meter Technician. Jennifer is always striving to show her children the value of education and hard work. Always looking for the next opportunity for improvement, she has recently started her Journeyman Meterman License.
As many families in our community can relate Jennifer currently pays 2/3 of her take home pay in rent. Habitat for Humanity’s goal is to provide a mortgage, including principal, interest, taxes and insurance that is no more than 30% of our partner family’s gross income.
Jennifer was reluctant to originally apply for a Habitat home, she explains “We know there are families that are struggling more than our family. But I have been working for homeownership for years, and I can’t come close to being able to afford the ever-rising home prices in our valley.”
Between the decrease in their home costs and a new sense of stability, the future is looking even brighter for the Hess Family.
